What is the Self-directed English Programme?
Would you like to design your own English language learning programme and carry it out with the help of an English Centre teacher-consultant ?
Self-directed study means deciding for yourself what, how, when, where and why you study. By discovering the ways in which you learn most efficiently and easily, you can continue study when there is no teacher or classroom course available, and you can transfer the skills you have learned in this course to other languages and to other learning situations. Self-directed study thus helps you to become more independent both as a language learner and as a person.
HOW TO ENROL ON THE SDEP
If you would like to participate in the SDEP, please do the following:
- Download a copy of the SDEP Study Plan here. Complete the Study Plan.
- Book a consultation online.
- Bring your study plan with you to the consultation. Discuss your study plan with the consultant. Then book a follow-up consultation.
- Study English between meetings and keep a record of your work.
- Most students find they need 3 or 4 consultations in order to understand self-directed study. You can choose to meet with the consultant once a week or once every two weeks.
